Long time no seen.

It has been a while since my last post, but I've been very busy. I have succesfully ended all my Tests which I had in October, and I started a new period at school. I started 2 new projects at school. One is about Artis and the other one about a website called IENS. Just recently an other inportant thing has changed my lifestyle. Last Thursday I quit my job at the Butcher, and in January I start working for my father. He has is own company www.criticaldistance.nl. This will be a new challenge for me so it is very exciting.

Exam

Today I had my first exam, It was not that difficult actually. I finished the test in about 20 min, and I found it quite easy. But I saw so many people with these frustated faces and looking at me in the hope I would give them a answer. Well in about 2 weeks I will get my results so all I can do now is wait.

Developments Project

Today a team member of my project showed his work what he has done montaging the film we shooted last friday. This project is basically a destruction of a bicycle, we made a movie about how a aggresive person (Me :) ) is beating up a bicycle with a hammer, and eventually blows it up with a bomb. After the bicycle died, a few other actors (my team mates) bury the bicycle and with the music and the sad faces of the actors it really gets emotional :P. When I have the movie on dvd i'll post it on www.youtube.com . I'll probably have in the beginning of November.

Back again

It has been a while since my last post, but then again I have been busy. Most of the time I have been working on a project for school which I will finish on the 20th of October, but I also have done some relaxing things and exciting things like the show of monsterjam. On 3 October I went to the Gelredome (Arnhem) where I had a really great show of the Monstertrucks. I really had a great time over there. Check www.monsterjamonline.com for details. Next monday I will have my first exam but I don't think it will be a difficult one. It is a open book test, so it shouldn't be a big problem :P.

Bad experience with Vodafone NL

I am a customer with vodafone for 2 days now and I am not pleased at all!
On 4 september 2006, I ordered a telephone on the online webstore of vodafone. (www.vodafone.nl) At first I was realy excited because I ordered a really nice telefone and I really wanted to impress my friends with it. I got a letter around 12 september which told me that my simcard and telephone where on there way. And last friday I finally got my simcard. The only thing is that my phone didn't arrive. So I waited for 2 days. And still no telephone. And because they will charge from the 18th of september I got angry with them. So I rang them up (cause the website doesn't give information at all!), and this guy tells me that the phone I ordered was out of stock, and the next supply will be shipped at 11 October. So now I don't have a phone which I really looked out for, I have to pay my monthly bill cause my contract started at the 18th, and I still have to wait for 11 October and hope that I will get my phone (cause the sell about 50 a day). So I really feel treated badly. And my first experience with Vodafone is really terrible! I'm stuck with them for the next two years and I hope my bad experience will stay with this one. If this is the way they treat customers, it isn't the right way!

Interactive game finished!

Last thursday I've launched my interactive game. It was a succes because everyone I Told about my game were very enthousiastic. It was a hard job to promote my game, because of my teammembers who couldn't care about the promotion, but I still convinced 16 people to vote on my game. The winner had 25 votes. The only problem I had with the voters is that they are so dumb! I mean the winner had a very nice game. It was a table with a monitor in the center en the table was the game board. You could play this game with 4 people and you could win this game by being the first player on the finish. A really nice game to play. But what the voters forget, is that in real life, nobody will by this game. Simply because they don't have room for it. I mean this table really was 1,5 meters by 1,5 meters. Nobody will go to a store and buys a game that they don't have room for. It was really ridiculous. So i really found it a pity that the voters didn't think about on what game they voted. They were consumed by looks and gameplay. But they didn't look beyond that. And if they did, they would find this game too large for boardgame. But I am going to work on my interactive game, and I am going to try if there is a market in this game. Simply because this game is part of a whole new genre.

Ibc

I've been busy working at the IBC, last friday, today, and upcoming Tuesday I'm working on the stand of the AIB (Association for International Broadcasting). It's not a really great job, I'm handing out free copies of the Channel to every bypasser, but I'm really happy I can explore the IBC like this. It's amazing what guys like sony are presenting there. They have these really big HD screens and HD camera's and seeing these sorts of technology is like a dream come true.

Interactive game

This week I've been busy with analysing the target group "12 year old's", and today I had to give an exposition about all the info that my team and I gathered. We had to make 3 presentations which we had to present on foamboards. People that walked by could give us a sticker so they vote on our idea's. After the exposition we grouped up and talked about the suggestions that were given. We chose one of the 5 games that we designed and next week we will work and design this game for a proto type. For now I'm having a school free weekend, so I have a fresh mind when I start monday.

Interactive game

Just got back from Amsterdam and I was given my first project. With 3 other people I am going to produce an interactive game. The game doesn't have any limits thinking of platform. You could make a game for the ipod for example, the only restrictions it has is that the game must be an interactive game that can be played by more than just one person. It needs to be a "gezelligheidsspel" what we call it over here in The Netherlands. For tomorrow we need a team name and a logo, so I have enough to do today.

Seth Godin speaks at google

Here is a very interesting story that Seth Godin talks about. I really recommend to take some time and watch this presentation. It is about the way people react on smart marketing. How you could create a story behind your product. And why google services like gmail don't work as good as the google search engine itself.

Just back from Greece and back to work

On the 19th of August I came back from a 2 week during holiday in Lefkas (Greece). I had a great time with loads of sunshine and I've met some nice people. These two weeks were very relaxing, but unfortunately to everything comes an end, and this week I started my study Interactive Media at the Hogeschool van Amsterdam. It was a very busy week and I got involved with the basic programs to set up a simple website. I now know the basics of programs like photoshop, illustrator and dreamweaver and for the past 4 days I have played with these programs just to get the hang of them. Next week I'll be working on a project which is called "Game on". I haven't had a briefing yet of what to do, but I guess I need to develop an interactive game what you can play on the web, on your ipod or on your cell phone. Tomorrow I'm going to meet my class and my project group with whom I'm going to start this project. I hope I'll meet some interesting people with who I can set up an nice project.
